READY U is a year-long, comprehensive, public information campaign focused on citizen preparedness modeled on a successfully program implemented in Shelby County, Ohio.  The program schedule of events shows a varied menu of presentations that will be promoted to residents in Lucas County but which will eagerly accept people from any area. The goal of the program is to demonstrate to people how they can take three concrete steps to be more prepared for emergencies that might strike in Northwest Ohio – Make a Plan; Get a Kit; Be Informed. These imperatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency exactly mirror those promoted by the Lucas County Emergency Management Agency’s primary partner in this campaign, the American Red Cross. Lucas County EMA and the American Red Cross of Greater Toledo have a long history of working together to serve the common good by educating people before a disaster strikes and coordinating a response and recovery effort after emergencies occur in Lucas County.
